DMV Celebrate Israel 2020

DMV CELEBRATES ISRAEL

Washington, D.C., Maryland, & Virginia

On Sunday March 1st, the Living Word International Christian Church hosted Bishop Robert Stearns and Eagles’ Wings for a day-long Celebrate Israel event in Silver Springs, MD.

The event started with a vibrant Sunday morning worship service in which Bishop Stearns communicated to an enthusiastic and very involved crowd of pro-Israel Christians, from Zechariah 9:11-13 on the topic of “Prisoners of Hope”. The cross, said Bishop Stearns, is NOT the last word…the empty tomb is the last word! The audience was standing on their feet in an animated and passionate show of agreement.

The Celebrate Israel event began where the morning service left off. Scores of Jews and Christians were singing and waving flags of the State of Israel, while the slate of speakers drove home a central theme: Israel’s greatest friends are the Christian Church.

Bishop Stearns set the tone for the evening by reminding all of us that the Church has not always been a friend of the Jewish State. In fact, many of our Jewish friends have been afraid of the followers of the Nazarene as the centuries have only proven to be unkind to the biological family of Jesus. “But this will not happen again…not on our watch,” said Stearns.

Our guest speakers included from the Embassy of Israel in Washington, D.C., Tammy Ben-Haim, Minister for Public Diplomacy. Minister Ben-Haim told the audience that Bishop Stearns has taken over 25,000 individuals to Israel, which has not gone unnoticed by the State and the People of Israel. She also reminded us that from the day of Israel’s founding, Christians have been a major support for Israelis everywhere.

Bishop Stearns then interviewed Minister Tammy Ben-Haim by asking her pertinent questions that helped to bring understanding to important questions that are currently in the news. The Q&A time was met with both excitement and gratefulness for honest answers to sometimes difficult questions.

Rabbi Elisha Paul, who is a lifelong Jewish learner and educator who has recently been asked to serve as the head of the Addlestone School, gave a compelling and challenging dissertation on the importance of filling our souls with the Word of God. Rabbi Elisha left 18,000 fellow Jews and Christians at the yearly AIPAC Conference in Washington, D.C. to be with us for the event. For that we are all very grateful.

Bishop Stearns then closed out the amazing evening by challenging all of us to stand strong in the covenants that G-d gave to Israel and her descendants. “The promise of blessings to those who bless Israel is as valid today as the day it was given,” said Stearns.

After this powerful event, plans are already underway to put a date on the calendar for DMV Celebrates Israel for 2021!
