The Greatest Awakening!

The Greatest Awakening!

“…knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.” (Romans 13:11)

There is one living, breathing word that God is giving to believers everywhere. That word is: “Awake!”

Truly these are days of great turmoil and moral shifting on a massive scale. The enemies of our faith are working overtime in an attempt to usurp a position of global domination from the place where it forever belongs: the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

But beyond the noise – beyond the chaos and all the cacophony of myriads of words and messages – the God of Jerusalem is breathing one word to His people, and that word can be summed up as the wordAwake!”

History has spoken of “Great Awakenings” in the past – days of revived spiritual fervor, impactful societal change, and amplified unifying faith. Religious landscapes of entire cities and nations have been transformed historically by the power of Spirit-enabled repentance.

The greatest awakening, however, is reserved for when Jerusalem and the nations awake together – Jews and Gentiles, living together as children of the light of our King, and jointly welcoming the fulfillment of His glorious promises in the earth. This is the remarkable hour in which we are currently living. As never before, the nations are streaming to Zion to attentively hear and actively participate in what God is saying and doing.

Our God has commissioned His watchmen to give Him no rest until Jerusalem shines as a praise in the earth (Isaiah 62:6-7). And a watchman can only “watch” when he or she is fully awake. To do that, the watchman’s heart must be awakened to a reality that never stops yearning, longing, moving, pulsing – even during times of physical rest.

What does it mean to Awake?  Webster’s Dictionary gives us some clues: “to cease sleeping, to become aroused or active again, to become conscious or aware of something,” or in another usage, “to make active: to stir up.” (merriam-webster.com/dictionary/awake).

For something or someone to awaken, the word implies that this person or living thing has already existed and been alive. To awake is not to be created; it is to be activated. To awake as a believer is to move from the place of dormancy to the place of authority.

Are you awake? The greatest awakening the world has ever seen is upon us.

Hear the words of our God, as He speaks awakening over Zion and over His people everywhere:

“Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” (Isaiah 60:1-3)

Now is the time – our God is speaking and so we must hear the call to fully be His servants and ambassadors to the world around us.

Now is the time – “Awake!”
