Looking Ahead to 2020

Looking Ahead to 2020

A New Year has dawned and the Kingdom of God is advancing! At this key moment in time, we invite you to pause and remember the eternal God who orchestrates our steps in rapidly changing times.

This month at Eagles’ Wings, as we begin the calendar year 2020, our ministry team is memorizing together a passage that comes from the Psalms. It is a passage rich with personal meaning in times of new beginnings:

1 O Lord, You have searched me and known me.

2 You know my sitting down and my rising up;

You understand my thought afar off.

3 You comprehend my path and my lying down,

And are acquainted with all my ways.

4 For there is not a word on my tongue,

But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.

5 You have hedged me behind and before,

And laid Your hand upon me.

6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

It is high, I cannot attain it.

-Psalm 139:1-6

As believers in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob – the God who existed before He laid the foundations of the world – all of us are invited into a living, daily relationship with the most powerful being in the universe.

We may not always know why God does what He does, but as we begin this New Year we can rest assured that He is fully aware of His own purposes and designs, as well as the inner thoughts of our own hearts in this journey of faith. He comprehends everything about our lives, is “acquainted with all our ways,” and yet chooses to know us deeply and personally.

Later in the same Psalm in verse 16, David writes these remarkable words:

“…in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.”

2020 may be a time that looks promising…  intimidating… uncertain… or unprecedented – or all of the above! – depending on your vantage point.

But let us remind ourselves that He has written these approaching days in His book, and that there are no surprises for the Lord of all creation!

We invite you in 2020 to meditate with us on the truth that our God has searched us and known each of us. May His path that unfolds before you be filled with new discoveries and new understanding, both to light the pathway and also to anchor your heart in the knowledge of His eternal ways in this New Year.
