Eagles’ Wings Speaks up for Persecuted Christians

On June 18th, Eagles’ Wings joined with the Middle East Forum and the New York Divinity School to host a timely event in New York City to raise awareness regarding the persecution of Christians in the Middle East.

For the event, the keynote speaker was Raymond Ibrahim, a leading expert on the relations between Muslims and Christians, whose family is of Coptic Christian origin from Egypt. Mr. Ibrahim spoke in depth on the subject of Christians Under Islamist Siege: Militant Islam’s Persistent Violence Against “the People of the Book,” highlighting historical and modern examples of Islamic jihad against Christians and how it persists to this day.

Nearly 50 attendees and leaders from both the Jewish and Christian communities were present for the lecture and discussion, which included comments from Dr. Paul de Vries, president of the New York Divinity School, and Dr. Daniel Pipes, president of the Middle East Forum.

Following the keynote speaker, Aaron Derstine gave a response on behalf of Bishop Robert Stearns and Eagles’ Wings, underscoring the urgent importance that people of different faith backgrounds unite to withstand the onslaught of radical Islamic persecution. He also brought a word about the work that Eagles’ Wings does in Israel to strengthen both the Jewish people and Christian Arabs in this critical hour.

Those assembled were moved and encouraged to a place of greater vigilance and action in this sobering but momentous time of history. Thank you for partnering with Eagles’ Wings to speak out on behalf of our brothers and sisters, both Jews and Christians worldwide!
